Never Give Up!

Florence Chadwick was born in 1918 and was one of the worlds great endurance swimmers. She was the first woman to swim the English Channel in both directions. On the 4th July 1952, she attempted to swim from Catalina Island to the Californian coast (42km). After 15 hours in the water, a deep fog enveloped her so that Chadwick was unable to see anything in front of her.

Chadwick was urged on by her family and crew but she could only focus on the fog that blinded her path. Defeated, she asked to be taken out of the water. As she sat in the boat, the fog slowly lifted to reveal that she had given up less than one kilometre from the shoreline!

In the middle of tough times, you can be tempted to give up when, in fact, the desired goal is within reach. Do yourself the favour, don’t give up too soon. In fact, never give up. All will end well. Wait on the Lord and have a renewed strength for each day, each difficult situation ~ Credits: Karl Faase, Daily Nudge.

About Just-A-Thought

Life can get very busy, fast and heavy. Sometimes living can become a challenge as life seems to always throw us at the deep end. In times like that, we need encouragement, a word of hope, a voice that assures that it gets better; that we should hang on. Just-A-Thought offers Christian words of hope in dispair, light in darkness, and strength to carry on.
