Public vs. Private (Reblogged)

“We call things ‘secular’ because we have neatly detached God from most spheres of life and confined Him to spiritual game-reserves called ‘sacred areas’ where we visit Him from time to time.”

Disturbingly true, isn’t it?

Happy New Year! 2014

First post of 2014! So, Happy New Year to all Just-A-Thought (JAT) readers around the world. It is our prayer here that you’d continue to know the Lord’s blessings, keeping and enabling this year. Amen.

Also, thank you for your continued support, comments, follows, likes, shares and encouragement. JAT wouldn’t be the same without you all. Thank you so much. Here’s to another year of sharing the hope that comes from the Lord, above.

Finally, for the next couple of weeks, JAT will be taking a trip down into the archives to dig up some of the favourite posts from the past years. Watch this space…

Blessings,

Shine Bright

How many times haven’t we heard someone pray about the ‘darkness’ that has now covered our nations and the evil that seems ever so prevalent and knowing no end? Well, one of the possible explanations might be- If darkness is prevailing, it is because the light is not shining.”You are light of the world…So let your light so shine” Matt 5:14,16. Shine bright for the Lord wherever you are to banish the ‘darkness’.

You can make a world of a difference.

Our Image in God

Could it be true that the devil has had us look at our image in a cracked mirrow for so long that we tend to believe that image is true, and fail to see the ‘new man’ that God has made?

We were made in God’s ‘own image’, after His ‘likeness’ (Gen 1:26), then sin came in, and brokenness followed. But, thanks be to God, anyone who believes in Jesus Christ ‘is a new creation- the old IS gone, ALL things have become new!’ (2 Cor. 5:17)

Just Do It!

“A Sunday School teacher once asked her class ‘How is the will of God done in heaven?’ One child answered, ‘Cheerfully.’ Another, ‘By everybody.’ A third ‘All the time.’ But the best answer was, ‘It is done without asking any questions.'” -D.L. Moody

Jesus told the experienced fisherman, Simon Peter, who had worked all night without success “…let down your nets for a catch.” Peter answers “we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” The result- “…this time their nets were so full of fish that the nets began to tear!” See Luke 5:1-11

Whatever The Lord tells you to do, just do it!

Disrespect For Parents

“Obedience and respect at home prepares the way for obedience to the employer, and they are joined with other virtues that help toward a prosperous career; crowned with a ripe, honored old age. Disrespect for parents are often the first steps in the downward track.” – D.L. Moody

“Honour your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” (Ex 20:12NLT)

Ever wondered why this is the only Commandment that comes with a promise? The stability and values of the home is so crucial for the functioning of the Church and society.
